Glen Sather Announces Retirement

Glen Sather, Senior Advisor to the Owner and Alternate Governor, made the announcement today that he is retiring from the Rangers and professional hockey after an incredible six-decade career spanning as a player, head coach, and front office executive.

“One of the great privileges of my life has been the opportunity to be associated with the National Hockey League, and specifically the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers,” stated Sather. “I want to express my gratitude to Jim Dolan for his friendship and unwavering support over the 24 years that I was employed by the Rangers. I would want to express my gratitude to every member of the Rangers organization for their commitment to excellence over the years, as well as for helping to foster a sense of family. In addition, I want to express my gratitude to the devoted and passionate Rangers supporters. This is an experience I will always cherish.

Dolan, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. “I am thankful for the friendship that Glen and I have had over these many years and for the success he helped bring the Rangers franchise during his tenure. Glen, Ann, and his family will always be a part of the Rangers and Madison Square Garden family, and I wish them all the best in the years ahead.”

Chris Drury, general manager and president of the Rangers, remarked, “I would like to congratulate Glen on his tremendous career.” Glen gave me the chance to play for the Rangers, and I will always be appreciative of that. I was also extremely lucky to be able to rely on him for advice when I started my own front office job. I’m hoping for the best for Glen, Ann, and the whole Sather family as they embark on their next chapter in life.
