Dodgers trade James Paxton to the Red Sox for Moises Bolivar, a 17-year-old minor leaguer

LOS ANGELES Pitcher James Paxton of the Los Angeles Dodgers was traded to the Boston Red Sox on Friday in exchange for minor league infielder Moises Bolivar. Bolivar, a 17-year-old Venezuelan, played for the Dominican Summer League Red Sox and hit.270 with three home runs and nineteen RBIs. In exchange for a $25,000 signing bonus, he accepted a minor league contract with Boston in January.

One day after earning the victory in his pitching matchup against the Red Sox, Paxton was designated for assignment on Monday. In five innings, he gave up three runs and four hits while striking out seven and walking four. With the Dodgers this season, the 35-year-old left-hander went 8-2 with a 4.43 ERA in 18 starts.
