Blue Jays to Explore Trades for Five Players at Deadline, per Report

A number of teams are seriously considering their options as the 2024 MLB trade deadline draws near. The Toronto Blue Jays, who have struggled to a 38–44 start to the season and are currently in the American League East basement, are one of the teams considering potential trade deadline deals.

A number of veteran players, including pitchers Yusei Kikuchi and Yimi Garcia, outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, catcher Danny Jansen, and designated hitter Justin Turner, are reportedly on the Blue Jays’ trade block as their struggles worsen, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The trade deadline is July 31.

Additionally, the source suggests that the Jays are still expecting to make one final go with both Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and are not yet prepared to split ways with them. Less than two seasons remain for both of the young stars to be under team control, and trade rumors have mentioned both.

Toronto, which has been among the worst teams in baseball this year, may decide to make some midseason roster changes as a result of their dismal start to the season and their consideration of deadline deals for its older players.
