Liverpool are still linked with several new names as they plan a busy summer transfer and, having already signed Alexis Mac Allister, are likely to add more midfielders

Alexis Mac Allister is just around the corner as Liverpool’s first transfer of the summer, with more on the way.

Argentina’s World Cup winner Mac Allister has been involved in an early deal that initially cost Liverpool a £35million deal, with more midfielders likely to follow in the coming weeks. Liverpool continue to be associated with various midfielders across the continent, with Nice’s Khephren Thuram, Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Manu Kone and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch just three of the names.

Defense is also an area where Jurgen Klopp is looking to improve his team, and there will likely be expansion in that area as well.

Liverpool ‘want half-price deal with Ward Prowse’

Liverpool are reportedly interested in a deal for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, but only if Saints cut their price in half.

The relegated club want £50m for their 28-year-old captain, according to Mail Online, but Liverpool have reportedly valued Ward-Prowse at £25m.

The Englishman would be an experienced addition to the Anfield squad, both in midfield and possibly at right-back, but the Reds seem keen to see if a deal on their terms is possible. Liverpool have decided to “step up” Gabri Veiga’s efforts.

According to Sport, Liverpool will step up their efforts to sign Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo.

The young attacking midfielder excelled last year with 11 goals and four assists in 40 appearances for Celta, including a brace on the final matchday against Barcelona that helped them hold on.

Both Newcastle and Real Madrid would love him, but Liverpool are firmly in contention.

Zieler intends to stay in Hanover

Goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler was linked up with Liverpool this summer, but the veteran stopper now looks set to stay at Hannover.

The 34-year-old German international was attractive to the Reds as a potential replacement for Alisson Becker, particularly if Caoimhin Kelleher were to leave to join the first team. Zieler has also been attractive to the Reds as he qualifies as a local player due to his time on the books at Manchester United as a youngster, but now looks set to remain in Germany.

He said via Bild: “I assume that in the new season he will wear the Hannover shirt again.”

Hannover sporting director Marcus Mann added: “Ron is well planned for us. And that’s good. We don’t think about it every day.”

Naby Keita ‘finds a new club’

Naby Keita was one of four Liverpool stars to leave the Reds on a free transfer this summer, following James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Germany’s Sky Sports now say it didn’t take Keita long to find a new club, with the Guinean midfielder set to return to Germany, where he played for RB Leipzig before moving to the Reds. Werder Bremen are reportedly working on a deal for Keita and I am confident I can complete the transfer.

Kephren Thuram’s plane sighted

Everyone likes to follow a plane, right?

The Liverpool Echo carries the news that fans believe they have spotted the plane that could be carrying Kephren Thuram to Liverpool, with a private jet leaving Blackpool Airport to fly to Nice on Thursday and return on Friday.

Blackpool was, of course, the infamous venue for Jurgen Klopp’s talks with Virgil van Dijk before his transfer in January 2018.

Could he be about to play a different role in a move to Liverpool? Liverpool have praised Mac Allister’s move

Liverpool have been said to have worked transfer magic with the deal involving Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister. “I don’t think Brighton particularly captivated him, did they? What did they achieve (by signing him to a new contract)?” Simon Jordan told talkSPORT.

“A world champion returns. They tied him up so they could sell him to Liverpool for well below market value. I can imagine (Brighton) will be a bit disappointed with the situation. “Because it’s pretty quick. I thought we were putting Mac Allister in a situation where someone had to pay top dollar for him. A lot of money

“I would have wished better for him. I want those big clubs who come and take everyone’s vision and not do it themselves, have to pay the required price.”

Klopp gave him a slap in the face in pre-season

Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of recovering from a disappointing season will soon be dashed with just nine players available at the start of pre-season. Liverpool had a difficult season, finishing outside the Champions League qualifying places and failing to win a trophy. It sets the stage for a massive pre-season, which will see the Reds squad undergo a major overhaul during the summer transfer window.

Klopp would have liked a smooth pre-season to transfer his ideas to a renewed team. But it appears the German will be forced to manage a more bumpy training schedule than initially anticipated, with just nine players returning for matchday one.

Mac Allister closes in transfer from Liverpool as price tag emerges

Alexis Mac Allister is on the verge of finalizing his move to Liverpool after the Brighton midfielder underwent his medical yesterday.

Despite reports that the Reds will pay £35m, Mirror Football know an agreement has been reached on an amount initially thought to be between £45m and £50m. The medical is expected to be completed today, giving Liverpool time to iron out any outstanding issues on the deal before announcing his signing by the end of the week.

The Reds are desperate to move to the Premier League

Liverpool target Jonathan Tah is keen to move to the Premier League this summer.

“If he doesn’t see the right opportunity (to leave), there’s always a chance he’ll stay,” Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes told BILD.

“(But) his goal was always to play in the Premier League. We have designed his current contract to allow him to do that. If he has a chance to realize that now, that’s fine.

“He was rightfully selected for the Europa League team of the season. He played a very good second half of the season. Even in matches where the team was not so good, he played well. In difficult matches Jona had an important role .”

Man Utd transfer plans hijacked by Liverpool

Liverpool are closing a deal for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister, beating big rivals Manchester United until signing him in the process.

The Argentinian midfielder is in the process of moving to Anfield and is expected to undergo a medical with the Reds before completing the transfer formalities. Mac Allister will be Liverpool’s first signing in what is expected to be a busy summer spell for Jurgen Klopp and new sporting director Jorg Schmadkte.

While the club hierarchy will be happy to start rebuilding the club with the arrival of the World Cup winner, there is also a huge benefit behind the deal: Manchester United cannot sign him. According to The Athletic, the Red Devils were eyeing Mac Allister in anticipation of a possible flight.

Maupay drops Thuram’s suggestion

Everton star Neal Maupay has hinted that Khephren Thuram could soon become a Liverpool player.

Thuram is in full sight of the Reds after an impressive season at Nice and Maupay believes he can really come to Anfield. “He’s a great player. We could be close soon,” Maupay told Nice-Marin.

Bradley’s loan praised

Liverpool youth boss Barry Lewtas has hailed Conor Bradley’s loan to Bolton as a resounding success, although he is set for another departure in the summer.

“How you learn and adapt to what you have is key. There are players here who were on loan for the first time and it wasn’t a huge success, but they’ve moved on to the next loan or grown up here.” he said Lewis. “Yes, you want a loan like Conor Bradley, who won a trophy at Wembley and won a lot of player awards. But that doesn’t mean the boy who didn’t play as much didn’t learn as well. You would have learned a lot about yourself.

Huge boost Kessie

Liverpool have given their midfield upgrade plan a boost, with target Franck Kessie becoming available for a reduced fee.

Kessie has struggled at Barcelona since joining La Liga giants AC Milan.

And now the Ivory Coast international has been launched by Barca, with AS claiming it would only cost a £30m transfer fee to sign him.
