The Detroit Lions just signed quarterback Jared Goff to a massive four-year, $212 million contract ($170 million guaranteed). The length of the contract seemingly ties the Lions to Goff until 2028, which is two years past the the contract of 2022 third-round pick, quarterback Hendon Hooker.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Lions now have a lot of money tied up in Goff, as well as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell. Moving Hooker could free up about $4.8 million in cap space over the next three years.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Not a ton, but not nothing, either. And it could also present an opportunity for a team like the Giants.<\/p>\n

The Giants have considerable questions surrounding their quarterback position following a poor and injury-riddled year from Daniel Jones. Jones is penciled in as the Giants\u2019 starting quarterback this year, but the door appears at least cracked to the possibility of a quarterback competition between Jones and Lock.<\/p>\n

But what about life after 2024? Jones has the much-discussed out in his contract and Lock is only under contract for this year.<\/p>\n
