Another setback: Real Madrid’s key defender’s recovery is delayed

In terms of medical news, Real Madrid has had a difficult week. After learning on Tuesday that Thibaut Courtois had torn his meniscus during practice, Los Blancos were informed of another player who would miss a significant amount of time: David Alaba. The defender’s recuperation is reportedly taking longer than anticipated. The footballer has been returned home to Austria by the club physicians in order to expedite his rehabilitation.

Alaba suffered a cruciate ligament tear in December, which has kept him out of action. Although the start of the upcoming season was supposed to be his return date, that is now uncertain. Prior to his injury, the 31-year-old Austrian was able to play in 17 games for the Whites in all competitions and record two assists.

La Liga leader Real Madrid is leading with ease. On March 31, the Galacticos will play Athletic Bilbao following the international break.
