Giants Sign Fourth-round Draft Pick Theo Johnson to Rookie Deal

That’s five draft picks signed with one remaining.

Theo Johnson, a tight end selected in the fourth round of this year’s draft by the New York Giants, has signed a rookie contract.

Since Evan Engram was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Johnson’s selection, at 107th overall, is the highest tight-end selection made by the Giants. Johnson was a highly sought-after international recruit out of Canada and a Penn State graduate. Johnson contributed to increasing his draft status in the Senior Bowl and Combine, despite his unremarkable numbers for the Nittany Lions.

With a 32-inch reach, Johnson, who established a record of 16.4 yards per reception in 2022 with the Nittany Lions, profiles as a specialty big-play target at this level.

Assuming Darren Waller retires, Johnson, who stands 6-6 and 259 pounds, could start training camp as the backup tight end behind Daniel Bellinger. Johnson has a four-year contract worth $4.851 million, including a signing bonus of $831,432 according to Over the Cap. He will have $1,002, 858 counted against the cap for this year. Security Out of the six players in the Giants’ draft class, Tyler Nubin, the team’s second-round selection, is the only one who hasn’t signed a rookie contract.

Nonetheless, during the first two OTAs held at their East Rutherford, New Jersey headquarters, Nubin was visible in pictures made public by the organisation.
