Matthew Stafford still has some gas left in the tank, but with him being 36 and dealing with multiple injuries over the past few years, the Los Angeles Rams may look to find a successor sooner rather than later.

Less than two weeks remain until the NFL Draft, which could be the ideal opportunity to locate such a replacement. The Rams have obviously noticed the wealth of quarterback skill in this class.

The Rams are among the clubs considering choosing a quarterback, and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy has piqued their interest in particular, according to Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal.

McCarthy, for his part, benefited more from his absence than he most likely would have from his presence. With the other two major names struggling, the Michigan quarterback who won the National Championship turned down the opportunity to play in Mobile and might have cemented his place at the top of tier 2 quarterback rankings, according to Giardi. “Where will he end up with that? Along with the top three clubs, signal callers have been the focus of interest for Atlanta (8), Minnesota (11), Las Vegas (13), Seattle (16), LA Rams (19), Pittsburgh (20), and Tampa Bay (26).

The Rams allegedly showed interest in quarterbacks earlier in the summer. Before settling on Jimmy Garoppolo, they were also connected to a number of other backup quarterbacks in addition to the draft buzz. The Seattle Seahawks reportedly outbid them, despite the most widely circulated rumour linking them to Sam Howell.

Although L.A. undoubtedly has more urgent issues to attend to, drafting Stafford’s replacement is not completely out of the question.hi
