Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Explains Beauty of Being ‘Old Man’ in RB Room
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is the oldest player on the team at his position, and he gives his thoughts on that, Jalen Hurts, and more
PHILADELPHIA – He’s the “old man of the group,” despite being just 27, and Saquon Barkley is getting a kick out of it.
“That’s definitely funny to me, and there’s a beauty in it, too,” said Barkley, one of the big free-agent signings in the Philadelphia Eagles’ offseason, following Wednesday’s OTA practice.
“You see how fast your time goes in here. And when you’re having fun with it, the time flies by.”
Being the new guy won’t hinder Barkley from exerting one trait that has made him one of the league’s best – when healthy. And that is his leadership ability.
“Me being new here doesn’t bother me,” he said. “I believe I’m a leader. It’s my seventh year going to the NFL, and there are already a bunch of leaders here, which is great, when you have that many leaders in the room. I feel like I can add to that.”
