Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva have reflected on the challenge that Arsenal posed to them in the race for the Premier League title.

For Arsenal, it was final day heartache, despite coming from behind to beat Everton 2-1. City’s 3-1 home win over West Ham saw them maintain their two-point lead over the Gunners and lift the trophy for an unprecedented fourth year in a row.

The results mean that Arsenal have to settle for second place and extends their wait to lift the trophy to more than 20 years. They will be watching the City celebrations with jealously and with the hopes that it can be them this time next year.

De Bruyne has been a key player for City in the race, with his return from injury coming at a crucial time. The Belgian has spoken about his feelings after beating Arsenal to the title.

“It feels as amazing as the first one,” he told Sky Sports after his team lifted the trophy. “We worked so hard for it, it has been a tough battle with Arsenal and Liverpool this year and to be here again and do something historic is amazing.”

Silva agreed with his teammate, making a ‘lucky’ admission over some of the title races that City have come out on top in. “The margins are so small, and Liverpool in two seasons we beat them by one point,” he said. “With Arsenal it is two points, and we have been lucky enough to have these small margins in front of them and the achievement is unbelievable.”

“Winning four in a row, we are so so proud and so so happy.”For Arsenal, eyes will start to turn to next season. The 2024/25 campaign kicks off the weekend of August 17 and 18.
