New York Giants might have just found themselves the ‘next Odell Beckham Jr’ from NFL Draft

The New York Giants selected LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the former Tigers star is looking to make an immediate impact in the Big Apple

Malik Nabers projects to be the next star wide receiver, akin to Odell Beckham Jr., for the New York Giants

The New York Giants may have hit the jackpot by selecting Malik Nabers as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, with many likening him to the ‘next Odell Beckham Jr’.

The LSU star’s speed and playmaking ability are eerily reminiscent of former Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Both players have the knack for gaining separation once they have the ball and are notoriously difficult to bring down.

Despite his impressive speed, Nabers is far from a one-trick pony, boasting a skillset that extends beyond just pace. Nabers has the strength to power through contact and tackles – complete with an effective stiff arm – demonstrating his ability to adapt to any situation on the field.

After being drafted, Nabers expressed his eagerness to contribute both on and off the field. “I’m just hoping to be the best teammate I can be,” he said, via NFL Network. “Get in with the community, hit the ground running and show what kind of athlete I am.”

Interestingly, Nabers had the highest scores of all available wide receivers at that point. However, it remains unclear who will be the Giants’ quarterback as New York grapples with what to do with Daniel Jones following a disappointing 2023 season.

Given the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position, the Giants could have opted for a signal caller like Michael Penix Jr , surprise pick by the Atlanta Falcons, or JJ McCarthy, drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. Instead, they chose the LSU star, who is expected to become the next big receiver in the Big Apple, filling the gap left by Beckham.

Before Nabers was chosen, Caleb Williams was selected first overall by the Chicago Bears as anticipated, while the Washington Commanders picked Jayden Daniels, the current Heisman Trophy winner, as the No. 2 overall pick. Both the Bears and Commanders will be hoping their new Heisman winners can lead their teams into a new era.
