Thiago Alcanatara’s future at Liverpool faces what is likely to be a crucial seven days as a big bid has reportedly been made for his services.

The Merseysiders endured their most disappointing season in Jurgen Klopp’s eight terms at the helm last time out. In fact, stuttering form eventually saw Liverpool finish fifth and face the Europa League again next season. After failing to impress in their three cup competitions, the 2022/23 season will be remembered by their fans as a season to remember.

However, in the last weeks of the season there were the first signs of a recovery. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move into midfield has given him and Liverpool new life. And with Cody Gakpo fit and Luis Diaz fit again, hopes are high that the 2023/24 season will be much more successful.

Moreover, Klopp was quick to inject fresh energy into Liverpool’s biggest weakness last season: the midfield. Traditionally a strong opponent for the Reds, their aging and lifeless engine room has been defeated and overrun too many times. In fact, a 3-0 defeat at Brighton and a 2-1 home loss to Leeds are perhaps the best evidence of this decline. However, the Reds reacted quickly. James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left the club after their contracts expired. And with Arthur Melo returning to Juventus, the Reds will have a new look next season.

To that end, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have signed a deal for a total of £95million. However, it looks like the Reds are far from done on that front with another deal in the region of £50m looming. However, it seems that the reconstruction of Liverpool is not finished yet. And recent reports suggest Klopp is willing to listen to offers for Spanish star Thiago Alcantara.

However, according to reports in Turkey, the first official move for his services came from Galatasaray. The Istanbul side are Turkish champions again after some ambitious hires over the past 12 months. Indeed, the likes of Juan Mata and Mauro Icardi are two of their most high-profile recruits in recent times. Now, Gala is looking to pair Thiago with Man Utd icon Mata in an experienced central midfielder.

According to reports, the Turkish champions’ vice-president Erden Timur has already held talks on Thiago’s transfer. They are now reportedly ready to step up talks with club officials, who are due to arrive in England on Monday.

With Galatasaray stepping up the lawsuit, a decision on his future could come in days.

Fabrizio Romano opens up on Thiago’s future and claims a concrete offer is still pending. Furthermore, Romano says in the Here We Go podcast that Thiago prefers to stay at Anfield.

“Liverpool, it’s essential to understand what’s going on with the midfielders. The rumors about Thiago continue, but from what I hear it’s not something concrete as of today, but that could change,” Romano explained.

“Maybe a Saudi club will come along and bid for crazy money. But the approaches from Saudi Arabia for Thiago, from what I’ve heard, happened about four or five weeks ago… And it was just a few phone calls, no real offers or sophisticated negotiations. “Also because, from what I’ve heard, Thiago’s top priority is to continue with Liverpool. If Liverpool change their minds, we’ll see. But for now they have every intention of continuing. together next season

However, Paul Merson believes Liverpool need to sign Thiago and Jordan Henderson this summer.

“Liverpool are crying out for legs in midfield. We saw what happened to them last season,” Merson told Sportskeeda. Players like Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are at the end of their careers. They need more than Mac Allister to once again become a force to be reckoned with.

“I haven’t seen Dominik Szoboszlai enough to judge. But if you’re a Liverpool fan, I hope he has the legs to give them what they missed so much last season.”
