Former New York Giants WR signs with Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles and former wide receiver John Ross of the New York Giants announced their one-year contract on Thursday. Ross was reportedly considering making a return to the NFL earlier in the offseason. Ross was a tryout for the Eagles’ rookie minicamp. Although the agreement is for a year, the financial details were not immediately made public.

After breaking the 40-yard dash record posting a time of 4.22 seconds during the NFL Scouting Combine, the Bengals selected Ross at No. 9 overall. Injuries derailed his career, and the Bengals declined his fifth-year option.

Ross signed with the Giants in free agency during the 2021 offseason. He spent one season with the Giants, recording 11 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown.

In the 2023 offseason, he inked a reserve/future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, but in the summer, right before training camp, he declared his retirement. Ross has accumulated 62 receptions for 957 yards and 11 touchdowns in 37 career games (21 starts).
