Rams GM reveals interesting reason for Stetson Bennet’s absence last season

Many anticipated that Stetson Bennett, who was taken in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, would make an instant impact as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. However, even for a player who is predicted to have a successful professional career based on his collegiate performance, playing time is limited with Matthew Stafford at quarterback.

It was interesting to note that Bennett did not dress for any games following some troubles and the Rams were uncertain if he would rejoin the team when the team opted to place him on the reserve/non-football illness list in September.

Les Snead, the general manager, revealed the cause for his absence, so everyone is aware of it now that he has returned to the team for offseason training. “He benefited greatly from last year, as far as I’m aware. I believe he capitalised on that year off from the game,” Snead said in an interview with News 19 in Alabama. “You know what, he’s an exhausted human being based on everything he had done.”

Even if it wasn’t a very clear response, Snead continued to discuss how the time off will be beneficial for him and his future with the organisation, so at least the Rams fans got something. “The responsibility of the quarterback, and in our sake, we saw what taking a break, giving some guys a break from the game to get refreshed — I call it, to get bored and fall back in love with the game you grew up playing in the backyard.”

Although many still think the Rams have a chance to make it far into the playoffs, they were quite close to actually competing in the NFC West and the conference. After the team placed Stetson Bennett on the reserve list, head coach Sean McVay spoke about him.
