Kylian Mbappe will start his final game for Paris Saint Germain this weekend as the French giants take on Lyon in the Coupe de France final.

The striker has confirmed that he will be leaving the club at the end of his contract this summer, therefore becoming a free agent. It has led to speculation over where the Frenchman’s future could lie.

Real Madrid looks the most likely destination with the Spanish side one of a very few clubs in the world who would be able to afford his reported £5 million per month wages. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have been tentatively linked, with YouTube sensation iShowSpeed claiming that Mbappe will snub a move to Madrid in favour of moving to Arsenal this summer.

If that indeed does happen, then it would be the biggest deal in the Gunners’ history, although it seems highly unlikely. But before any transfer can be sorted, the 25-year-old will have his concentration on lifting one last piece of silverware with PSG.

The speculation over his future has led to Mbappe being left out of the squad completely for the last two Ligue 1 games. He has also only started four of the last eight matches in all competitions.

But, speaking ahead of the Coupe de France final on Saturday, manager Luis Enrique confirmed that he will turn back to the star with a trophy at stake. “Will Kylian Mbappe play tomorrow? Of course. Of course he is going to start,” he said in a press conference.

He added: “Every player has been fully committed. In training throughout the week, the attitude has been spot on.”

PSG captain Marquinhos has also admitted that Mbappe’s exit gives him and his teammates some extra motivation to send him off with one last trophy for the club. “It’s a special source of motivation for him and for us because we want him to do well, score and win his last trophy with PSG,” he said.

A move to Arsenal certainly seems farfetched at this stage. Mbappe’s mother and agent was one of around 250 guests at the star’s farewell party earlier this week. While leaving the Italian restaurant the event wast held in, Fayza Lamari hinted that Mbappe will secure a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Asked where her son would play next season, she replied: “You all know it already.”
