Liverpool have reportedly suffered a setback in their bid to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. With his contract suspension pending, the England midfielder has potential prospects – including the Reds – on high alert as they hope to strengthen their engine room.

However, reports from The Athletic suggest Mount is ‘suggesting’ Manchester United as their first choice should they leave Stamford Bridge when the market reopens.

Elsewhere, the Reds continue to pursue Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister, who was in action for the Seagulls against Manchester City last night.

Meanwhile, there are suggestions that Liverpool could sign Ruben Neves from Wolves. However, the Portuguese is also attracting interest from Catalan giants and La Liga champions Barcelona

Liverpool could strike again, apparently, if Jude Bellingham’s move to Real Madrid were to fall through this summer.

As earlier noted, Liverpool have paused their pursuit of Bellingham for the time being, instead pursuing a broader approach to rebuilding their midfield this summer.

According to a report from Football Transfers, the Reds haven’t completely given up hope but a move to Spain still looks like the likeliest option for the England international.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to drop £55million for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. That’s according to the Daily Mail, who report that sources at Old Trafford have indicated talks are close to resuming a move for the 24-year-old.

The report went on to say that United wanted to pay around £55m for Mount, a price well below Chelsea’s £85m valuation.
