PSG manager loses Kylian Mbappé tip after £170 million offer in Liverpool transfer roundup

Liverpool have already signed Argentine World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton this summer and Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this summer.

Liverpool fans were stunned on Thursday when rumors of a €200m offer for Kylian Mbappe surfaced in the Spanish press.

The 24-year-old France international is one of the best footballers in the world having won six Ligue 1 titles and scored a hat-trick in last year’s World Cup final against Argentina. Any Premier League team is unlikely to say no to such a talent.

Mbappé has only one year on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and it is unclear whether he will extend it. The chances of Liverpool making such a colossal offer after spending money on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are slim… but not impossible.

Here are the latest Merseyside transfer updates and rumors…

Mbappé’s suggestion from PSG

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants Mbappé to sign a new contract, but he will sell him if he refuses. With Mbappé in his last year of contract, the Ligue 1 champions have only two options to sell the superstar: now or in January.

A move this big is unlikely to come mid-season, meaning it’s now or never PSG will cash in. And if Mbappe leaves the Parc des Princes, only a handful of clubs will be able to sign him. Liverpool is one of them.

Real Madrid were favorites to sign Mbappé but ruled out a transfer. Manchester United are another option for the 2018 world champions, but that transfer is subject to the ownership saga being resolved before September.

Asked about Mbappe’s future, Al-Khelaifi said: “Our position is very clear.” If Kylian Mbappé wants to stay – we want him to stay – he must sign a new contract. We can’t let the best player in the world go for free right now. This is impossible.”

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian international’s agent Federico Chiesa has traveled to England for transfer talks. According to Paisley Gates, Chiesa is waiting for the green light to move from Serie A club Juventus for £34m.

Liverpool would be interested in the 25-year-old, but so are Chelsea and Newcastle. Chiesa would like an annual salary of 5 million euros (about £82,000 a week). The winger has scored 38 goals and provided 39 assists in 202 Serie A appearances

According to Tuttosport, Torino expect Liverpool to make another offer for defender Perr Schuurs. As Sport Witness report, Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign a new centre-back after signing two midfielders in Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

Liverpool are believed to have already received a €30m (£25.6m) bid for Schuurs which has been rejected by Torino, who are expecting €40m (£34.2m) . The Serie A club will listen to offers for the former Dutch youth international, who has three years left on his contract. Schuurs has made 33 appearances for Turin since his €9.4m (£8m) move from Ajax Amsterdam in August. The Dutchman previously played for Fortuna Sittard and Ajax and won six trophies with the latter club, including three Eredivisie titles.
