The New York giants new signing becomes the coaches best achievement for….

Does Jared Goff contract put Hendon Hooker in play for the giants?

At quarterback, the New York Giants seem to have all they need for the 2024 campaign with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito (plus just signed Nathan Rourke).

Are the Giants done, though? Joe Schoen has demonstrated a willingness to explore all options, including trading draft picks, in order to bolster the Giants roster. Is it possible for the Giants to sneakily acquire a quarterback? Quarterback Jared Goff recently inked a hefty four-year, $212 million contract ($170 million guaranteed) with the Detroit Lions. The deal appears to bind the Lions to Goff through 2028, two years after the 2022 third-round pick quarterback Hendon Hooker’s contract expired.

Along with Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell, the Lions are now heavily indebted. Over the following three years, moving Hooker might free up roughly $4.8 million in cap space. Not very much, but not negligible either. Additionally, it might provide the Giants with a chance. The Giants have a lot of concerns about their quarterback position after Daniel Jones had a subpar and injury-plagued season. Although Jones is expected to start for the Giants this season, there seems to be some movement towards a rivalry between Jones and Lock for the position.

How will things be after 2024, though? Lock is only under contract for this year, and Jones has the much-discussed clause removed from his deal. Is it possible for the Giants to talk to the Lions about trading for Hooker?
